  • Multi FB connection in vb.net

I am using 3 fusion brains in my project, all v4. Do to the distance between the location of the FB's and the computer, I'm am using a networked usb controller to connect to the FB's. All works fine most of the time. The problem is that sometimes the usb controller doesn't connect the FB's in the same order.

So I need to be able in my vb.net app to connect to a specific FB using code instead of relying on usb connection order.

Can any of you super coders help me with this issue?

    Don't ever reboot

I haven't worked on mine for a while, and it was a v3/v4 setup so it was easier to call the correct brain, but I don't think there was a way to differentiate between multiple same-version brains (at least i can't think of a way via the .dll).

You might use some hardware to sequence them at startup to connect the brains in the proper order (power them up after boot, in the sequence you want).

FWIW, I only know enough vb to be dangerous, so don't take this as definitive.

Well, that's my problem, i just know enough vb to know the questions, not the answers. LOL. I sent an email to the FB guys, when I get a response, I will post it here. The FB's must have and ID # that you can address, I hope!

That's what i was getting at - you could use brain 1 to power up brain 2+ after startup. Brain 1 would connect at boot, vb program starts & output(s) send power up brain 2 and so on. Once you get all the brains up & running, then start whatever it it you want to use them for. the delay sucks, but it is what it is, unless you want to spend the $ on much more expensive hardware.

not at all what i was getting at

i'm talking EASY. If the last two inputs are open, bridge a different combination to +5v on each one. That way when you connect them you have a very easy way to id them.

The fusion brain guys sent me 3 separate firmware files with unique version #s. The instructions are "Change the PID from 0x000E to 0x000B/0x000C/0x000D"

So my questions are, how do you install the new firmware to the fusion brains, and how do you connect to a FB based on a unique version # using vb.net ??

              Any help will be appreciated.

If anyone needs copies of this firmware just let me know, I will be happy to send.
