Me happy, me found a chip which does what I want the 0808, click here for a circuit for it. Anyone know anything about these chips?

Could you let the joystick emulate keystrokes on the keyboard ?
like assign certain buttons on the keypad to the functions on the joystick ?
I would love to use the stick with the markus zehnder plugin.
The way I see it, is, I need 11 switches to work with this plugin.
The joystick I have happen to have these 11 'switches'

I was going to use it with one of the com port pluggins, there's one which allows up to 16 buttons on a single port.

dunno if the markus zehnder plugin has an option to be controlled via the com port..
          will check it out..

          But..
Is it possible with some chip to take the input of the joystick (analog resistor values) to turn into keystrokes.. (with the old guts of an keyboard.. the thing only has to make contact..connect the wire so that the keyb. controller thinks a key has been pressed....)

It should be possible, with a few chips, I can sketch up a block diagram now, but it'll be a while before I can get any more info, my testings no going great.

testing no going great ? damned..
              I'll wait.. got the time..

I figured out the Markus Zehnder Plugin can be controlled via: Keyboard, Serial Port, Parallel Port and WinLIrc

So serial port can be done..
however.. I have no experience in this.
Should I wait for you to finish your testing ?

also.. at http://llg.cubic.org/tools/sonyrm there is a schematic how to connect it to the joystickport of a computer.. but all software is in linux..

Good luck with your testing !

Do you have a link for Markus Zehnder Plugin, especially for the serial port interface. I've seen the Linux interface before, but as I don't have a game port or Linux it's not an option for me. Althought I contacted them a while ago and they where quite helpfull.

                  no gameport ?
what kind of audiocard do you have ?
(normally these cards would have one)

As my sig says Xitel USB Audio.

Looking at the Markus Zehnder Plugin, not 100% sure how the serial inpot works exactly, I should have some free time come the weekend so I'll have a play with it then.

I have looked into that before, but I couldn't find anything usefull

I have emailed the guys from cubic.org to see what they got..
                        Maybe they have a solution..

                        Rob,

                        The plugin...
It seems to me that each button will have his own ID in the plugin.. To these ID you assign actions/events
But I have no experience in Serial controls, so I don't know how the button-ID would work.

I really hope we can get this working...

Still haven't heard anything from the guys from cubic.org.
                          but.
To me, it seems we can use the diagram which is on cubic.org to connect the sony commander to the gameport.
Windows would detect it as some 'standard analog joystick'

I found this program called joyemu on http://www.emulationzone.org/projects/emutools/
this is a tsr-program that detects joystick movements and 'presses' a key on the keyboard..

I haven't tested this at all, but it looks very promising..
seems to me that I can assign a button to every 'movement' the sony commander makes..
This would be exactly what I want.. this way I can control my plugin..

I let you guys know how it goes. .. (even if it doesn't work.. ehehehe)

                            well

I searched some more and came up with this..
                            http://dmc.freeweb.supereva.it/input.htm?p
it's in italian, but it seems that this is a winamp plugin that will basically do alot of stuff I want it to do..

That plugin looks sweet, I just wish I have a game port on my SBC

I still trying to get the ******* ADC to work.

Does anyone have experiance with ADC, and if so could someone oint me in the direction of a decent 8bit one, the 0808 is really starting to ******* me off, I've got to and as far as I can see there wired correctly but neither of them do any thing.
