  • FM tuner with standalone software

    Hi Everyone,

I just molded an 8" touchscreen in the dash, put in a voompc-2 enclosure with
Jetway VIA C7 2.0GHz Mini-ITX Motherboard, 1GB DDR2, 120gig HD, etc. I really like the Gnet Digital Dash. Just like the looks of it more than any of the others I've seen. The problem is that it doesn't have any FM radio interface.

I'd really like to have FM without putting a seperate head unit in. Does anyone know of a good USB FM tuner that has a nice looking standalone tuner interface that ?I could just launch as an application? So far the only thing I found was but the interface is so tiny that it won't work with the touchscreen to easily.

I'm a big fan of the Silabs USB Fm module. The software that is downloadable form the Silabs www isn't to bad for touchscreens, that is to say I didn't have much of a problem with it.

Do you have any programming experience? There is a small program someone made in visual basic 6 in that thread that can control the silabs module as well as a .dll file that you can use in other languages. As a matter of fact, most of the radio solutions have .dll's floating around that you can use.

Perhaps you could use a program called 'Radiator' which a lot of people use for the fm tuners, however having not used I can't tell you much about it
I installed my carpc into my pet Kangaroo, mate.
