Actually they are. Hd signal is broadcasted to standard antenna’s in all major cities.
Chicago has had it since 2000. I have sold HDTV’s for 5 years. As long as you have an HD tuner built in your fine. Most americans dont know this fact, so if you have an HDTV hook up the simple rabbit ear antenna and your will receive local channels in HD
(as long as you have good signal..maybe a powered ant. needed)

I, too, have had HDTV for quite some time and I run a 23db TV antenna in my car and it won't get Hd when moving. I have an 8-element directional antenna on my home and the reception is flaky at best. With a pair of 6-element I can pickup 14 of or 19 HD channels but my 8 element only locks onto 9. HD here in St louis comes in from three different directions and unfortunately for me, I'm not close enough to any of the transmitters to be able to use "rabbit ears" antennas.

There is no such thing as a HD antenna. It is a marketing gimmick. Find out what freq your stations broadcast in. More than likely you will just need an UHF antenna.

Now getting a signal while moving? Good luck, never could get it to work good with analog, so I bet digital would be even worse.

Tested a HDTV USB dongle this Spring. Pinnacle, I think, SUCKED ROCKS! Am waiting for next year's CES Show, rumor has it lots of new USB HDTV tuners will be unveiled there.
