  • audio channel cut out....

For the past couple of weeks i've been noticing a weird problem when listening to WinAmp (v2.8) on my car system. When it boots up and starts playing all is well, but as soon as the next song starts playing the right audio channel drops off. This always happens when it automatically goes to the next song. If i hit next song (B) the channel comes back. Right now i have to change songs manually and i have to pull the computer out to hook it up to a monitor to check to see if any error messages are poppin up.

Anyone know if this is a WinAmp bug?

Are you sure the problem is directly related to winamp??

      If no, check connections.

      If yes,

sounds like some type of wierd hardware, hardware compatability problem.

Winamp has 2 output things in preferences. One is called wave out and the other is direct sound. Find out which one you are using and try the other one.

Try reinstalling winamp or going to a different version.

      Try a different soundcard.

I actually found out what the problem was this morning after i hooked it up for bench testing with a monitor. I believe the problem is in the PalmAmp software i use. Sometime's when i power up the computer and the Palm isn't in the cradle, the computer loses sync with the Palm. When i reboot WinAmp it finds it but sometimes defaults the sound only to the left channel.
All i had to do to fix it was center the left and right balance on WinAmp when the problem occurred and it hasn't happened again since.
