  • tv card causing "cmos battery error"

I have a soyo sy-k7vta pro motherboard and I have a creative digital vcr card .. when i put the two together my comptuer doesn't even post and an audible error message comes up with something about a cmos battery error.. it's really hard to make out exactly what it's saying.. but nothing comes on screen so I can't say for certain what it's saying.

of course I've tried taking out every combination of cards from my computer and it doesn't help a damned thing.

I tried it in my abit kt7a and it worked fine

    Any ideas??

You may want to see if a newer BIOS is available for your mobo.

Although it sounds unlikely that would fix your problem seeing you lose cmos.

    Are you overclocking?

      Nope, running everything straight up.

400w psu, abit ti4200 OTES, above mentioned mobo, athalon 1800+, 1024mb Kingston ram

I really can't find any good reason for this to be happening

I guess I'll have to scrounge up a floppy drive so i can flash my bios. I thought of that, I didn't think it'd do much for my problem though.

Does your motherboard offer BOIS flashing from windows? ive seen some new boards that have that, it might be worth a check, just to make it a bit easier.

also, i dont know if youve done this or not, but check on soyo's website, and creatives website to see if there are any known issues with either of those things, and maybe some patches.
