  • Your car audio configuration

I’m curious on how many of you have gone the 5.1 surround route in your cars w/o a headunit?

Or are you guys going straight pc >> headunit >>amp, with 4 speakers and subs?

I'm still @ 4.1 and trying to figure out where to mount a center channel speaker. That's the only thing really holding me back.

4.1 w/ emulated 5.1 through M-Audio Sonica to AUX-in on a Pioneer DEH-4300 to a 4ch AMP feeding a pair of seperates and a pair of full range speakers and a bridged 2ch AMP pushing the sub.

Still thinking about removing the reciever from the picture and going right to the AMPs...

How are you connecting it to your amp? Isn't the amp RCA inputs?

Alpine has a center channel amp w/ a speaker kit

Then again you could just buy a cheap amp & speaker and make your own.

                  ddt,
Clarion makes a 1/2 din center channel which may prove easier to mount, depending on your setup.

Well here's the setup to be. The bezel is almost finished (I keep changing my mind), but where the radio and AC controls are will be where the screen will go. I have 0 din left

And with this pic I just noticed one vent is upside down. Oh well... I'm having a bezel professionally made anyways. That's just another reason to do it!

                      Man...

                        ddt,
Why are you having one professionally made? That one looks like it came out pretty damn good. Just flip the vent over any you're in business!

Interesting, but I might have the same problem as ddt, no more dash space!

I think almost everyone has vents in the middle of their dash..
Wouldnīt it be possible to but the center speaker behind the vent ?

this way, one would not see it, and you donīt have to go through a big hassle thinking where you would put the center speaker..

                            just a thought.

BAD epoxy!!! The vents are glued in there GOOD. The plastic of the bezel started to break before the epoxy did.
