  • Buzzing noise normal?

Wasn't sure if I am posting in the correct forum or not, but I was having an issue and wanted to see if it was normal or not.

The only think I really lack on my CarPC is a drive.. So me, being impatient, decides to boot from a USB drive just to make sure everything is up to par. Well, the system boots and runs fine with no issues. The only thing that bothers me is that there is a bussing/beeping noise coming from the computer. It only does it sometimes seems to stop when I launch an app or something. But if I just let it sit there, it does this. The system ran fine for about an hour before I shut it down so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I also don't have any fans setup yet so I'm not sure if that's an issue or not? I'm running it without a case at the moment and I'm sure it won't be as noticeable once it's covered but I really wanted to know if it's normal or not?

    This is my set-up:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33GHz (6MB L2 Cache)

    Intel BLKDG45FC Mini-ITX Motherboard

Lilliput 809GL-80NP/C/T VGA 8" Touch Screen
    4GB Ram (Super Talent DDR2)
Panasonic UJ-875A Slim Slot DVD-R/RW/RDL/RAM drive
    Griffin Technology Radio Shark 2
    Scythe Mugen 2 Heasink
    M3-ATX Smart Power Supply

Sounds like drive noise intruding on your audio lines. It may go away with a normal drive and case.

It *should* go away. That's not "normal".

It occurs with the engine off, just switched to "Acc" so it's not engine noise. The audio lines are actually not even hooked up... I'm almost positive it's coming from the motherboard itself though.. I'll try a normal Hard drive this week when I have off work.

          Buzzing on load

This may be strange but I just picked teared my computer into pieces and at last i did find out that my CPU or motherboard i making this noise. I started my computer with everything disconnected/dismounted so the only thing left was PSU, MB and CPU and the the powerbutton... (Yes, the cpu cooler was also dismounted :-) Then the buzzing noise was there. I then turned off the computer (disconnected power). This time i just took off the CPU from the socket end then there was no buzzing at all...
Si I guess either the CPU is making the noise or the CPU in combination with the motherboard does...

          Motherboard: IN9 32X-MAX Wi-Fi
          CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB

          Best regards, Dag Rune
