  • Just installed 2 12" rockford P3 subs...

...and my carpc keeps shutting down, freezing, stuttering, etc..

the bass is simply too much for my poor 500gb :-(
    lol

i currently have the carpc bolted to the underside of the trunk where many cars have their rear speakers.

I now i have to figure out how to get the carpc into the car away from the bass powerhouse.
i need to buy a pico sized mother board, the Matx is simply too large.

anyone experiecined such fun with their subs and carpcs?

i have a 32gb ssd as my main drive
and all media is on the platter drive.

the 500gb is about half full, dont see any reasonably priced 500gb ssd's around lol

the bass might be vibrating the rear deck.

i have a problem similar to this-- hard to explain, and even harder to prove, but:

my carputer is mounted under the passenger seat-- all the components mounted to a thin sheet of plexi-- when the hdd is mounted solidly to the plexi, i get the same kind of errors/freezing, sound system on or off. it seems like the plexi is creating secondary vibrations, so i had to isolate the hdd..

i mounted it to some rubber battery isolators-- found in the marine dept at a cabella's(i think pass pro shop also has them), and it seemed to completely fix my problem

          find some nice rubber insulators.

I had this happening 3 times in the whole 1.5 years of my Car PC, I decided to do a full check of wires and such, and then I wrecked the motherboard USB ports lol

Right now I got a Asus Eee 1000 with internal SSD, I am working on using it as a replacement. I think it will cause less interference with HD radio and more stable operation.
Besides, I will be able to use idle to time system shutdown "from windows" when ignition is off

Just a thought, to rule it out if the cars electrical doesn't have enough amperage to drive everything after you installed the sub/amp, the power supply may be going into some sort of shutdown or protective mode if the voltage drops to low.

The rubber insulators wouldn't hurt either way, but id give both a try maybe probe the battery feed for the power supply with a multi-meter while the stereo is at a normal volume and see what the vdrop is.

Hope it helps, let us know if you get it sorted out.

i removed the 500gb platter so see how the pc would handle.

it is able to endure some more bass.
before , @ volume 10 the pc with lock up, freeze, blue screen etc.
now it happens when i am @ volume 15 without the platter drive.

I am leaning toward the actually cpu shifting ever so infantismally.

for now have the bass turned down very low, until i can relocate the carpc to somewere on the interior of the car.
