  • Sound Issue

I currently am experiencing a problem where when the car starts sometimes the audio only plays out of the subs and not from the rest of the speakers. If I shut the car off and on in order to re-start the carputer then I am able to hear the sound from all speakers. Has anyone ever experienced this problem before and come to a solution? Could it be that on startup sometimes the sound card is not booted correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

The Carputer has the following specs:
      - 1.6GHz Dual Core Atom 330
      - Slot loading DVD drive,
      - M2-ATX Power Supply
      - 160Gb SATA II hard drive
      - 2G DDR2 RAM
      - XP Home
      - Centrafuse Europe Front End

      Components are as follows:
      - HQCTi AM/FM Adapter
      - USB 327 OBD II USB interface
      - Sirf III GPS receiver with 57600 baud rate
      - Lilliput Monitor EBY-701 Double DIN

The subwoofer is connected to a mono sony amp. RCA cables are then routed to the onboard sound card via a RCA stereo headphone adapter. Hope this helps.

ok, what model number motherboard, amp, sub, and what audio port is the sub amp connected to?

also, how are your other speakers connected(and model#'s)?

i had a similar problem in my own setup, but mine is due to my special audio processing not starting up properly...

To tell you the truth I did not do the install myself as I was running out of time before I was about to ship the car to where I am currently living so I am not sure exactly how the installer ran the cables. I can see however that on the carputer there is only one set of RCA cables connected to the onboard audio port for sound. The model of the amp is Sony Xplod XM-DS1300P5 the sub model is Sony Xplod XSL121P5. The motherboard model is Intel D945GCLF2. Also, at one point I had the RCA cables connected directly to the RCA inputs on the carputer however from these inputs I was experiencing a lot of alternator whine. Thanks for the help.

I have now found a new interesting phenomenon. I noticed that if I first start the car and I incur this situation where I have no sound, if I shut off the car and turn it back on again the sound miraculously appears! I noticed as well that the computer itself has not shutdown or restarted once I turn the car back on again as I do this before it even has a chance to shutdown. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can correct this situation?

hm, it almost sounds like your fullrange speakers amp is not turning on-- if this is connected to the m2's 'anti-thump', or delayed power output, this could be the problem--either you can try to connect the amp dorectly to a switched line in the car, or-- in the m2 section of the power supplies, there are many threads detailing issues where the m2 won't be able to turn on multiple amps..
