  • Crown Victoria firewall drilling location.

I have a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria and am going to install a few devices (carputer among them), and will be running some wires straight from the battery to the dash. Does anyone else have a Crown Victoria around 2000 or close that can recommend the best location for drilling a hole in the firewall, or perhaps tap into an existing hole? The battery is on the passenger side.

Check for rubber plugs that can be drilled and reinstalled. My truck is available w/ a std trans so there is a foil patch (used to be plug on my older trucks) where the clutch pedal rod went through.
This worked perfect for running wires in. I doubt a std trans was available in a Crown Vic but being that they were used alot for police cruisers, it wouldn't suprise be that some provisions are there from the factory to run wires inside.

I'm sure there are one or two plugged holes that you could use, but I have found it easier to locate the grommet that the ecu harness runs thru. and make a hole in it next to the main harness and run your wires through that. It is more than likely tough to see it from under the hood, may have to pull the carpet back on the passenger side to access it.

so far, most of the cars i have had to run wire in, i have been able to locate a rubber grommet that is much larger then the wires going through it-- i cut an 'X' in it, and pull the wire through-- and it is water tight, and almost factory...

I looked under the hood last night, and determined the best spot is probably between the master cylinder and the right body panel. I'll have to drill a hole, and the wires must be capable of handling 50 amps peak current. I'm installing three radios from one circuit.
