  • Computer randomly shuts down

This is getting frustrating. After having THIS problem the computer is now shutting down unexpectedly. Searches have revealed power supplies and registry errors. I am wondering if the problem is registry errors since the computer is hooked up to a wall supply.
If you cant DODGE em, RAM em.

Shutting down like powering off? Or shutting down like rebooting?

Is there a common thread to the shutdowns? For example, does it run for say, 10 minutes and then shut down? If so, it could be overheating.

Try a utility like Speedfan to monitor both temps and voltages and log them. Then you can either identify or eliminate those as the problem.

Also, just because it's hooked up to a wall supply doesn't mean you should rule that out as the issue. Try another PSU for fun.

No BSOD or anything, just cuts off?
If your sure the PS and hardware is good, at this point I'd really recommend backing up your files, wipe the drive and reinstall XP. Unless you have a ton of programs installed, reinstall is easier than troubleshooting IMO.
