  • Mounting PC in the boot

I am just putting the finishing touch's to my carputer, but what is the best way to mount the computer in the boot.

Are the any pictures of examples, and I am going to be putting the Amp in my boot as well, would it be best to make a custom box to put the two together?

Also, is their any way to stop the pc from vibrating, or to stop a cd-rom jumping around, when you are driving (apart from avoiding holes in the road). Are their any kits available to prevent this?

Just screw the stuff down man!
as for vibration, nothing I can think of other than maybe slappin some dynamat on it, though I dont know how much it would help.

Heres a thought - for my tempary mount I am going to use Velcro - Wrap it around and it will stick to the carpet.

I'd second the velcro. After messing with other mounting possibilities I ended up using velcro. Holds in in place well, sits on top of the cushy trunk carpet (stick some extra padding under if you like), and it's very easy to take the computer out of the car, or put it back in.

I've been using velcro for about 2-3 years now and I don't have any complaints.

Oh yeah, I only use one of the velcro too. The side with the hooks is on the bottom of the computer.. it grabs the carpet. Doesn't take much force to lift (but takes much more than any bump), but won't slide anywhere.

First off, its the trunk, not the boot , and I've got mine rigged up under the "floor" of the trunk, near where the spare tire is kept under the carpet. It's simply wedged in place, and the hd is held down with velcro .

                Trunk

Anyway, don't give me some lame explanation about it being the back so it should be called boot. If you compared the car to a human, then tires are boots.

Your trunk would be the ***.

So I guess you can try to cram your computer up your ***

You call your a$$ your 'trunk'?

Americans are strange. My trunk is on the front, not the back!

Don't count on it. Here come the re-inforcements.

It's a boot. It will always be a boot, and you Americans/Canadians only drive on the wrong side, because we don't.

Those in Aus/NZ/SA/JP know whats happening.
