I'm not a gamer, so I don't know what these Xbox controllers can do, but would they be of interest as hardware controllers for a carPC?

I wrote a little code into DriveLine for gamepads a while back but haven't gotten around to exposing it. I was thinking it might be good for a ghetto-joycon mounted to the steering wheel or center-console. It could be used for mouse-control, and as hotkeys. The XBox 360 controller I played with was just a DirectInput device. Fairly easy to work with. I don't know if the XBox One controller has any new functionality in it though. I'm sure some people could come up with creative uses for the gamepad as an input device in a car.

Oh, and I guess you could use it to play games.

As one of the later parts of my planned carpc build, I'd like to get a thumbstick and a button or two integrated into my stickshift. Being that I've always driven stick and I often push my cars limits, I don't really feel comfortable taking my hand off the shifter for more than a few seconds (aside from highway cruising of course.)

Although I wouldn't need something as complex as an xbox controller for that, I could hack apart any usb joystick, I certainly love the feel of the xbox thumbsticks.
