  • well boys, I'm back!

    Heya,

its been a while since I talked to you guys,
how many old timers are left?
Aaron Cake? Arby? who was the dude with the mini? ya'll rocked

I still have the same car, but she's better than ever
    my 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix
    I'm all over on it.
I got TGP louvers in the mail to me,
I put 16x8 crosslaces on her last month,
I got rear bucket seats and a pass through console,
and a clarion stereo with aux in.
I have Jensen 5.25" speaker in front, and pioneer 6x9's in the back.
I have 2 10" subs sitting in my garage, waiting on my buddy to get a new amp so I get his old one.

I'm putting together a simple system again to have some tunes.
I had a p233 laptop laying around with 96 megs of ram.

I just stuck win98 on it, and am transfering my music over right now.

its a pretty small setup, just plugs into my aux in on the stereo.
No display yet, I'm debating about trying to lengthen the wires that go to the LCD, putting the laptop under the seat, and mounting the LCD in the dash, would this work, or would it **** with the timing of the LCD?
Clarion 200watt head unit w/ Aux in.
    Kicker 800watt 4 channel amp

I think that when you make cables longer they lose signal, have never tried this tho so am not sure, I think somebody has done this tho

Have you opened up your laptop yet and seen the cable your trying to lengthen? All of the cables that I've seen connecting the displays internally are flat ribbon cables and dont lend themselves to being lengthened by mere humans. If you have figured a way out of doing this though, I would be very interested in how.

Another option you may want to consider is simply reversing the laptop screen so when you close the laptop, the display faces out then just mount the thing to your dash. I did this with my previous carputer (http://www.digitalwheelz.com) and it worked out great.
