  • Encoding videos at native 800x480

Anyone here reformat divx/vob/avi/mpg movies on their carpcs to match the native resolution of the liliput/xenarc screens? I am curious as to the results in quality.. Pre-Scaling a 16x9 dvd down to 800x450 would provide a clean break, maintain aspect ratio perfectly, and leave only 15 pixels worth of "bar" at top and bottom, and should be less processor intensive than letting the video chip scale it.
    Thank You /////ALPINE

i don't know what all the fuss is about the native resolution. my Xenarc looks crystal clear and fits the screen perfect at 800*600.

I tend to agree, why not 800*600, a more standard res?

also why make is narrow so it needs to put black lines in?

the last time i did a divX was in 2000 so my knowledge is vague but i remember taking out the black lines and allowing the software to add them in order to save valuble disc space int he days when 30gb hdd was huge and we used to put divX on 2 CDs. Thy not just make it full screen to the resolution you use or if that is distorted then add letterboxing into the film so when your media player runs it full screen at yur chosen res it is the same size. no stretching or squashing or adding black lines. Just playing it the way it was encoded. surely that is best.

once you actualy have used 800X480 the 800X600 will look horible in comparison, was night and day difference once I got my nvidia card and set up the 800x480 res with it.
