I have my motorola phone connected via usb to my computer and I se motorola phone tools to seamlessly connect to the internet. Then I just the local news stations weather alert desktop system that is free to download. It has realtime radar with windspeeds, alers for a low level lock (begenning of a tornado) alerts for all counties for any crcumstance. It's pretty cooo. You can download it from www.kfor.com Goto Weater and then 4 warn alert desktop. It has an entire map for the entire US. I don't know how detailed it gets though as I have never tried to "login" to a different city.

I dont really care about the weather that much, I was just thinking that there is probably some other use for this. The wheels are turning, if I think of something cool Ill post it later.

XM WX Package Subscription Pricing (monthly) = $99.99

          One-Time Activation Fee = $100

Very expensive even without the hardware.

I remembered when the kit was $499. That was high then. Guess it must of gone up in price.

Hell you could hook up a pcr-1000 and get free weather maps.

              PCR-1000? You mean this? http://www.icomamerica.com/products/receivers/pcr1000/
What is that thing for? The description is kinda vague. Is the radio reception as bad as the pci tuners? Is this anything like the CRAM radio that RANDO is making?

Save your money and get a Motorola FRS with a Weather Band Radio build in. On my Range Rover OEM Stereo System it's a standard feature. Cheers.
