  • Can you make a minitower pc smaller/worth using?

Im lookin at minitower pcs as a new way to have a carpc. A little big thooo..... I know you can put a computer into anything but is it worth it to take the minitower components and put them into a smaller case? Can it be done? Im not too sure the size of minitower mobos. Also, can a opus or something like that power a powerful minitower? any help is much appreciated, thanks

oh, im looking at something like this- http://www.compusaauctions.com/cgi-b...aunbr=64434789

Yes. I've done it with an older AT style computer. It was a K6-2 on a Baby-AT board. Just use standoffs to screw the mobo down onto your case and make sure to account for air flow. Oh yeah, and an opus should be able to power it. Your board may have an AT power connector instead of ATX. An ATX power supply can be modified to fit an AT but not the other way around.

            something like this?

This is an older picture. Right now, that case is painted and my comp, HD, and fan are all installed.

Less than half. 3/8 of the original height, to be exact.

isnt a shuttle a lot smaller than a minitower to start with it?

                  Yeah. It's like 8"h x 8"w x 11"d (approximate).

damn, darque, that's the first time I've seen your setup. that's awesome... makes me want to find a shuttle

but in conclusion....a minitower pc is NOT a shuttle and probably has a much larger mobo so it would be much tougher to make it smaller?

true. You can still make a reasonable small player with a Baby-AT board.
