  • Someone comfort me...

    I just bought a 7" Xenarc 700TSV, a BU-353 GPS receiver, 1GB RAM, EPIA SP13000 and a M2-ATX DC-DC...

My credit card is burning red hot right now, lol

Well I did order my things today too.
Hope I will be happy with it.

How will you mount your PC / LCD?
I will try to mount it in the two higher DINs and relocate the AC controllers to the lowest DIN.

Saw it on the forum, hope I can do it too

You are just beginning, for most of us this project never ends.

Yup, pretty much same here. I bought the headrest shroud a while ago and dremeled that into place. Applied some dynatron epoxy, and now sanding (alot).

As for the on-going project, I can easily see how. I guess this is what happens when you do everything else to your car... haha

Couldn't have said it better myself, the computer parts are just the beginning...

Why'd you get 1gb of ram?

                Why not?

If it's overkill, I'll just take the 512 from my desktop and swap

                    Probably a better idea

1gb of ram will make your hibernation/resume slower. 512 is the sweet spot.

Standby.... yeh its faster. Funny thing is I noticed on my carpc that the longest part is the POST, not actually loading everything from my SATA HD back to the memory

                          I'm with ya there, Boris.
Without any significant tweaking, hibernation is about 1sec faster than a full boot from shutdown.
Of course, as I add more startup items, that changes.
Why does MBM5 take so friggin' long to load?!?!?!?!
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
                          How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I dont 'plan' on using hibernation, as it takes me 30 seconds to just get the car out of the garage, lol

I found hibernation to be atleast a few seconds faster from boot. Plus the applications are already open
