I know that there's two competing FAQ's for mp3car.com, and both of them are pretty useless because they only cover the questions that the webmaster ever had. Couldn't we setup a common community FAQ where people can (and DO) submit articles, as well as mod's here submitting questions fielded from the forums. That would take up the clutter considerably IMO.

BTW - I know of two FAQ's but what other hardware/MP3 FAQ's are out there?

    Good idea.
Two faqs. One being the standard board faq, with answers to questions about using vb. Another for hardware/software questions.

Add another button to the "usercp", "register", etc title bar up top. Or add another catagory to the existing faq.

I don't even know the addresses to the current faq's!

I only know of one FAQ off the top of my head, and that is the one in my signature.

Also PyroTom and myself have made another site which is a list of mp3car related links. Users can submit links to the list in real time. Also i thought bgoodman was working on a real time addtion script for the FAQ that he is running, If not i could whip up a nicer faq script in perl or php.

        The FAQ
        Submissions

need to add links to them.

Oh ok, I didn't know that it had an online additions script. Any chance of putting a link from the main FAQ page to the submissions page?

            woohoo faq.mp3car.com now works!

hornet: I know I need to link them, it's on the todo list

edit: added link to submit page, cleaned up submit interface

I still have a tad bit of work to do on it

Hmmm... the FAQ is pretty good, but still pretty light on answering a bunch of questions a beginner would have. Is there anyplace that folks can submit common questions to have answered by the local authorities? Thanks!

not to sound like an arrogant prick, but A LOT of the newbie questions have been answered many times in the all of the forums. usually, when i ask a question i do a quick search, if i find topics, i read them, and if i still have a question, then i post it. also, a lot of times you can just click back through the forum pages and scan the topics. that too gives you the oportunity to find what you are looking for, sometimes.

but, after all that i have said... dont be afraid to post. if someone gets mad at you for posting a "newbie" question, dont get ****ed off back at them, they were probably having a bad day

and i agree about the FAQ, it is kinda vague on most questions, but when i comes to details, that is what the forum is for. if you scan through topics, you will probably see what "type" of questions are frowned upon.

                    have fun!!!

My whole intention on this topic was to push to get ONE of the two current FAQ's to take over as the centralized FAQ, have moderators to update and clarify the FAQ questions with answers posted here, and for the mp3car forum to promote it.

I think two of the problems so far are:
                      1) neither of the two faq's are being promoted except by their respective owners.
                      2) neither faq is broad-reaching, nor are they specific enough to be useful for newbies to search. (honestly, I found the second faq to be useless to me because it only discussed the questions that came up in the faq owner's own car-pc endeavor.

In addition to that, we need the other faq software to be more flexible.. (it's a mess)
