  • Hahaha Stupid Theves!

My new Pathfinder was just broken into. Stupid idiots smashed my rear driver's side door 1/4 window and stole my briefcase full of PAPER!

Hahaha I bet you they were ****ed, it was all worthless! They didn't take 1 CD, or even worse, they didn't realize my 6 inch LCD was in my glove box! Luckily my carputer was in my place at the time.

The only down side of all this is I had to pay a $300 deductable to have my window fixed.

I keep getting broken into, but they never take enough to justify paying the deductible. A friend of mine had a respectible philosophy: Leave your doors unlocked and the keys in the visor. That way, they are more apt to take the entire damn car, and your deductible will buy you more than a stupid window.

I know where your coming from. Back in Feb. someone took my head unit but left my char LCD, keypad, and book PC. They didn't know that was almost the cheapest part of the whole system. Didn't mess with the insurance. Just went out and bought another $140 headunit. Sheriff gave me a shot about my plate being MP3JEEP. I told him yea but they left the MP3 part alone. Just wondering if anyone has had they system taken and turned it into insurance. Would auto cover it or home owners????

I had to do the insurance because I drive a 2001 Pathfinder and being here in Vancouver, BC it rains all the time and I needed to have the window!! hehehe

I was surprised when I went in to get my insurance claim, the insurance adjuster told me to keep my doors unlocked too! I asked him, well what it someone gets in and steals the whole car, and then he said...."uhhh yeah I guess that would be a bad idea then" I just laughed at him! hahaha

My car is such a peice of crap, that when they broke my back window, I built a new one out of plexiglass.

Stupid idiots didn't even take the LCD for the car player. I bet it is in the landfill :-(

They are made by Alpine...last I remember. Alpine makes the cleanest HUs I've ever used. But still, that's DUMB.

I think we should cut hands off theives.

Round my area this tends not the make a difference.
Couple of days ago they broke into my 18 yr old Golf, its due to be scrapped on Saturday yet they still wanted in.
Failed the first time they just damaged the lock, the second time round they got in found nothing and tried to steal the car.
They broke the steering column and left it.
Ive fixed this a little so its drivable, but the car had an electrical fire last night

The really funny thing is that the drivers window was held up with masking tape, they could have just pushed it down and stuck their hands in. Total muppets!

                        Cheers

                        Dave

They tried to brake into a old used golf.. Next thing you know your kid's power wheel will be broken into because everyone knows that power wheels have the best radios. I took the radio from a Barbie power wheel and replaced the stolen radio in my wife's KIA. I think the Barbie radio has better reception.

                            READ UP

Many insurance companies will not cover added electronics over a certain value unless you have them declared or have a rider insurance plan for them. So if you have a big stereo and computer, you should speak with your insurance agent BEFORE anything happens. Document what you have (a few pictures), tell your agent, make sure its covered under a portion of your plan, and then don't worry what happens.

Typically the only things that go on home insurance are sun glasses, cds (up to a certain amount), etc. You could argue that a laptop, etc left in your car could go under household insurance as well... but not if its bolted down. When something is bolted down it becomes an "integral part of the car" and has no value of its own, only what it adds to the car. For example adding a top of the line cd player adds... you guessed it... the blue book add on value of having a stock cd player (maybe $30). Many other upgrades like amplifiers only count %10 of their own purchase price towards increasing the value of the car. This really is straight out of my insurance plan, and after long hours discussing it with my state's insurance regulators its very common.

This is my old IASCA show car that was vandalized by attempted theft only weeks after the install was finished:
                            http://www.sounddomain.com/id/fansler
Eventually it was totalled.... Basically a theif broke a window, tried to steal the car and couldn't thanks to Clifford G4 (wrecking dash, steering column, etc), tried to steal my amps but broke them, tried to steal my deck but got messed up by the security plate... eventually someone came by since my sirens were blaring and the guy took off with only my radar detector, nothing else. I agree that its usually easier to just have the entire car stolen. But I say thanks to my security system for deterrring theft since there really was only minor damage compaired to losing the car with $8k of new upgrades, and I expected to get the steering column and window fixed ASAP and get some money for the broken stereo/security system. But then...

So why was the car totalled? Hehe, after I released the car to insurance for estimate and repair it was forklifted in the lot bending the frame. Then they ran into the back of the car with another car. Then they dragged the car in park breaking the transmission. After 3 months and major legal threats we finally forced my beloved car to be totalled and left with a strange package of money and some of the upgrades of the car.

I'm not joking... My car was totalled cause of what happened after the attempted theft when the insurance company had my car.

forklifting cars? rear ending? dragging it?

Holy crap... you may have the worst car insurance/repair system know to man....

I hope you got a fair settlement. That kind of incompetence is just intolerable. They need to hire more employee's with atleast a high school diploma... where do they find these dumbasses
