I rip my CDs to 192K, personally.
I can tell the difference between 128k and 192k pretty clearly and I've got some hearing loss in one ear.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

depends 100% on your ear and your system.

I can tell a difference in my car between a 320 mp3 and the real thing.

      Most people couldn't.

Hard drive space is cheap, rip it high and go on with life.

i agree about the rip high part..but science disagrees with you. acoustics is part of my day time job. noticing the difference between 320 mp3 and cd is highly impossible..in human beings that is .. the difference you notice most probably has something to do with your hardware processing sound differently in CD and MP3. but again you are using high end hardware from what i have read.
