I want a good, yet cheap GPS antenna to run off of my laptop in my car whilst I build my carputer. Any suggestions? I don't like the Etrex, but do I need the GPS unit or just an GPS antenna like this one?

I plan on velcro-ing this to the inside of the glass on my trucks back window. Its a whole unit, have not tried it yet so I don't have a performance report for you.

jpainter99: Be aware the "heatlines" that are on the inside of your back window, may come loose if you remove the velcro. If possible put it where there are no heating lines or make sure that there is no adhesive in where your velcro crosses these heating lines.

The ferret apologizes, I say screw you!

It would have taken you less time to post the link to it.

Is there a hack to make that work? or is it the wrong link? because it just seems like an amplifying antena for another GPS unit.

I miss read the original post. I thought he already had either a handheld or delorme receiver which can at times get very poor reception is cars. The link I posted was for an antenna that is roof mounted on the outside and increases the signal for the receiver inside the car.

                  Sorry!

This is a reciever that relays the signal to the gps antena inside your car. It's no an antena in itself, and it's not product specific. afaik

Thanks, really people yell search all of the time. Most people who stumble onto a message board on the internet... didn't just discover the internet 5 minutes prior.

My thoughts... if you don't like the question, why waste your time replying?
