  • Are CarPC GPS systems dead?

I'm in a position where I'm seriously torn about stripping out my CarPC installation and just fitting a tablet. One of the key factors here is the GPS setup - every year I'm forced not just to update the maps but find a whole new software package for my CarPC, because the maps are never updated.

My last choice was Sygic, but even with their 2011 map package I'm finding far too many inconsistencies in my area (Poland). Newer maps are available, but only for Android-based systems - I can't find anything that runs on a Windows PC any more.

I'm dreading the hunt for a new GPS software that will offer semi-decent maps of my area. Is there any point in looking, or shall I just buy a tablet?

What about MapFactor Navigator Free? It is based on OpenStreetMaps.

How have you got the Sygic maps working? I'm running Fleet v8.30 and couldn't get them to work.
