  • best GPS software North america

I have been looking for a while and still can not come up with a good GPS software for a reasonable price. Are they all $100 to $130? Are there any free ones? I read the sticky but dismissed it as it was from 7 years ago, is this software still applicable now?

Copilot Live v8 is your best bang for your buck if you end up buying something. Regular map updates, lane assist and works very well. I have it installed in 55 big rigs (truck version but is same core as car) as well as I use in my vehicle. Support is terrible but really don't need them. SNO

For a Free navigation solution, you might check out Navigator Free by mapfactor.
      http://navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/en/

It uses map data from OSM (Open Source Maps) that are updated at least monthly.

Admittedly, it's not the most polished navigation software, but it works and the price is certainly right!
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

I have this installed but all the USA maps you have to pay for. Is there a way to import them from OSM?

I replied in the other thread about this.
You're not looking at the free version of Navigator

IIRC, there are two shortcuts to start Navigator. One is for the full paid version and one is for the free version.
In the map installer, there's one tab for the paid map data and one for the free map data.

I was able to install all the maps for NA. It took a bit to download, but it steadily did its thing.
