  • routes with iGuidance

hey all - I know that with this software it will route for me, but what if I wanted to select roads that I want to travel?

FOR THIS REASON: say if I wanted to plan out a motorcycle trip using some back roads and wanted to know how many miles and how long? PLEASE NOTE: HOW MANY MILES AND HOW LONG!

does this software not do that? is my only option to use streets and trips or something along those lines?

and, if this is in a thread someone, PLEASE link me, I searched briefly and didn't find anything....planning a wedding and only have a few days left, would really appreciate it if someone could just link me....

I AM NOT INTERESTED IN GOING AROUND THE HACK WAY OF DOING THIS!

since this seems to be such a novel concept I needed to put the emphasis in certain areas...

however, since many people have determined that it's not possible, I've got my question answered.

iGuidance isn't really good at that; its specialty is getting you from where you are to where you want to go, regardless of what roads you end up on.

    Try maps.google.com yet?

google maps doesn't do what I need it to without typing in each individual city point by point....it's a hack way of doing what I want to do.

Imagine wanting to get from point a to point b but NOT on the main high ways, but rather on specific roads that you choose.

You can tell it to not use highways, and detour certain roads.

But if you know what roads you want to take, why do you need a gps navigation system?

Yea, I don't think it'll do what you want. But it will auto-route if go off the route you put in, so you could just put in your address, and then go exploring (take the scenic roads) and it will constantly re-do the route from your current location.

Streets and Trips and Delorme's Street Atlas have more features but aren't easy to use on a small screen or embed.

I guess that I'm talking to brick walls....lol

I've said multiple times that I'm not interested in doing this, I want to put certain roads in and have it tell me what I want.

You can try using Avoid Road
Keep avoid particular roads and eventually it will route you to the one you want.

if you know the road you want to travel on, perhaps you could try setting an address on that particular road as a waypoint/stopover.

see, all of these options make absolutely no sense...

I'm gathering that none of you have a motorcycle or have been on a motorcycle trip...

when you're traveling down back country roads, and changing roads quite often, then you'll understand....lol

I been using avoid road feature to have the software route me to a specific roads that I want. This is how I know which route is shorter than the other.
                          Try it.

Right.. well from a planning standpoint I have never found iGuidance to be a suitable app.. which is why I was assuming you were going to be using it for real-time routing.
