A GPS is a receiver that gives your location in latitude and longitude coordinates. You need Iguidance to plot the location on a map and tell you where to go.

A GPS is the hardware that determines your position based on satellites. Most communicate to the pc via serial port, or USB (serial bridge), or Bluetooth (serial). All you get from a GPS is a stream of coordinate data which is constantly updating. You still need some kind of software application if you want to make sense of the data. iGuidance is one of many applications that includes map data and routing features to give directions which makes for a complete navigation system.

Scroll down the first post to the section on GPS. While you're there you might want to read some of the other FAQ's

lol, I can't believe this question was asked. Common, do alittle more reading before asking such elementary questions... we get tired of answer the same question over and over again.

too bad people already answered the question, my response would've been "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
