Sorry, something went wrong with the forum when I hit submit. I had asked it more like the following:

I am interested in running iGuidance completely from the hard drive. In a bunch of searching, the closest situation I could find was the following:
    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72793

I have no problem leaving the DVD copied on my hard drive, but would prefer to do the maploader once, and leave the DVD at home. (My CarPC is optical-drive-less).

From what I've read, this scenario is not completely explained. Just wanted to be sure it'll work before I plop down my money.

Yes, you will be able to have the entire program and map data on the hard drive.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
      How about the Wiki?

When you run the maploader the first time, simply select all states..

How about using a program like Alcohol to create virtual CD/DVD drives? Alcohol will also allow you to create images of discs, that you can then mount on those virtual drives. I plan to do that in my own system (creating approx 5 virtual CD-drives) so I can have multiple GPS apps installed, and just mount the images I need at any given time. Reading them is a lot faster too, coming directly off the HD. You just need enough drive space to hold as many images as you will need.

Yeah, that would work too... That was kind-of my backup plan... But it sounds like what I'll need is built into iGuidance, so I'm all-set.

that won't help with iguidance. the only time iguidance needs the disc is when you run the maploader to re/install maps.

In the North America version, you can select all of Canada and all of the US, except Hawaii, and install all those maps. It takes a little while.

If you want Hawaii, you have to load that separately.

I'm pretty certain it's been discussed.....
You can install one map set (i.e. all of North America), make a copy of the map folder, then install a different map set (i.e. Hawaii or possibly Europe?), and be ready to go. You could then swap mapsets in and out at will.

Ah. Well, I merely worked on the assumption that it was highly unlikely that I would ever be driving my car in Hawaii.

well there is the tunnel out there now...

what i did was install iguidance on my 3.2 p4, loaded up all the maps, copied the folder to my car pc. it went so much faster that way. it takes forever for california maps, even on the 1.8 in my car.

Sorry to raise a thread from the dead guys.

I am trying to install iGuidance, and everything works fine until the maploader. It gets to step three and then fails on like linkinfo.raz. EVERY time. I tried looking this up and copying the files over to my HD and running it from there, but my system gets errors and freezes every time I get to this file. Does anyone have a solution? Or could someone send me an email with that one correct file? Thanks in advance!

Contact the store you purchased your iGuidance from for a replacement DVD.

Will do, thanks! Wasn't sure if this was common, or if it could just be an error/scratch on my disc, but I'll contact them anyways.
