    I was looking at getting a GPS from Thailand - will i be able to use this in Australia?

    yes no problem at all
    as long the software compatible with the gps receiver, you won't encounter any problem (most gps receiver is nmea standard)

      i dont see why you wouldnt be able to, it is called a Global Positioning System for a reason

        Correct. It will work everywhere and get you a signal.
