  • RS232 / Serial ?? the same, and how do I split its outputs?

Ok i have the Volkswagen VAG Cable, that communicates with my cars computer. Ive had it for a while, and it uses a serial cable.

Im buying a HD radio, with interfaces to the car PC with a cable from "Mitch's World of Cool Stuff". this is also a RS232 (a serial plug correct??)

Is there a way to split the serial plugs up, or am I up SC with out a paddle again.

Mitch says that the cable will work with a USB to rs232 converter, but are there any drawbacks to this.

    Thanks for any help!!

A converter works great. In general FTDI converters are the way to go but I've seen people using $3.50 ebay converters without any issues.
