  • Interest Feeler: Simple Power Controller

I have a few PCB left from building my own power controller. I paid arround 90$ for 5 boards and about 20$ in parts for 2 of them, so bare price for one would be 28$ then shipping and a bit for soldering it, most is SMD to make it as small as possible.

They work rather simple: It's connected to perm 12V and ACC line. When ACC goes high there is a initial 3 sec delay to make sure that engine is running, should ACC be low after the 3 sec's the counter is reset and the controller waits for the ACC to go high again.

After 3 sec's the pc is powered up and then after another wait the amps. The times can be adjusted to whatever it should be.

When acc goes low the controller waits for a set period and then cuts the power.

In combination with the serial switch plugin this can be used to have the pc hibernate when you leave the car.

To make it practical, the best is if the bios can be set to power up after a powerloss.

They are controlled by a picaxe which are very simple to handle, instructions on how to reprogram the times will be provided.

Any interest to take any off my back?

I might be interested in one of these... what is the current capacity on the onboard relays?

      Hi

16A for the big one and 1A for the other one, if you need more than that you need an external relay driven by the onboards
