  • Wiring help, possibly a relay?

What I am looking for is a simple way to open a circuit when power is supplied from a lead. This really isn't carputer related but I know you guys are electronics gurus. I need this to get my LED taillights I put on my motorcycle working correctly.

yup use a relay. there is a pin guide in this section: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=65
that will help you. Just make sure you get a relay that can take the power - brake lights are quite meaty but you only got one.

        Source for Relays

You can check out All Electronics ( use ) to find whatever relay you end up needing. They are pretty cheap.

Help me see if I am correct on how to wire a bosch 5 pin relay with this picture. If the circuit I want to open was hooked up to pin 30 and pin 87a and the wire with current that I want to open said circuit was hooked up to pins 85 or 86 would it work for what I need it to do? It appears to me it would but I switched majors after my first couple of EE classes.
