It would really help if you'd say what LCD you got that from.

Its used in lots of things, usually only in a few sizes so you should be able to find some in an old printer or scanner that will fit.

If not get a wider piece and a craft knife......

Its called a flat flex cable. They come in varying lengths, and varying number of conductors. And they are seperated into different pitches (the distance between contacts)

It looks like a 1 mm pitch, something like 50 conductors. So all you need to do is measure it, and go here:

              How many filaments?

Digitakww sells a 40 filaments, I have a extra 20+ filaments that can work for you... or not. (depends on the answer to the question above)

kiltjim is 100% correct. You need a flex circuit, its must have 40 conductors. Measure the distance from the edge of one conductor to the other. It should be in the range of 1mm, this is your pitch. all you need to do if find the length and order it from mouser.

                      Peace

well i used a razor and shaved away some of the coating and then cut off about na inch of the end of the cable. then tried it out and to my suprise it actually works. the picture is perfect now. but i still htink i should get a new one.

                          but thanks for everyones help.

I like the creativity in doing that. That is what it takes to be able to do something like put a PC into a car.

A new one might be better but if it seats fine, does not move much, and it is long enough, should be good for a while. But don't let me stop you from buying a new one if you want.

Just had to post that I got a kick out of the solution.
