  • Pioneer DEH P6500 Remote Headunit :-)

    hey guys whats up! alrite as you can tell if you look at the pics im doing a remote headunit :-)

    the headunit is a pioneer deh p6500 cd only (i got it about 2 years ago)

    the whole plan for this project is to place the headunit faceplate in the apiller on the driver side MAYBE in a center console if i can get my hands on one... it would be in a sunglasses holder and when u press the release switch it would swing down into use

    i made simple connections here using 2 cat5 cables only used 6 wires each becasue there were 2 rows of 6 for a total of 12

    its was pritty basic took me about 1.5 hours to 2 hours to open it all and sodder it up im very happy with the results right now the wire is about 2 feet long? maybe 1.5 feet i plan to put my headunit maybe in the glove box (if i dont jam a ps2 in it) under passenger seat (if it can clear the gap when i fold down my seats (i fold em down alot to haul dj stuff and i dont want to remove the headunit each time) so the wire will be a good 10 feet long

    FIXED IT the biggest problem im having right now is the eject button... the headunit thinks the faceplate is connected normaly and it has disabled the eject button so i need to eather have the coupler ends hidden in a little area where i can disconnect it and eject the cd or find the correct trigger wire (if there is one) and put a switch on it and i should be good...

    k well i messed around with some wires and i foudn the eject sensor and all i need to do now is put a small 1/8 inch barrel rocker switch next to my faceplate and when i flip that switch the headunit will think that the faceplate is open and active the eject mode :-) btw for n e 1 wondering what pin it is its #11 on the faceplate side

      One suggestion I would have made would be to open the case and solder to the connection on the inside.

      But still cool!

        I have been wanting to do this with my head unit so bad..... How long is the distance between the deck and the faceplate?

        You will do a simple write up, right? straight through wire to wire... no signal booster?

                    oh i was using the flash on my phone as a flashlight to see between the sodders lol it has a always on LIGHT as a flash so yeh works good :-) i accidently clicked the pic button so it took that and i didnt notice

                        I got LCD, mobo, hdd, GPS h/s, most of wiring

                        ALL i need is some stuff and then misc stuff: (offers?)
                        PSU, more wires, slim cd/dvd drive, OBDII stuff, wireless adaptor, audio stuff, stuff period.

                          :-) thanks guys lol well i found the wire that is the trigger for the 'faceplate is down now i can eject the cd' mode but the only prob is that i accident sodderd 2 points together and its in a really tough place so i cant get it out the OEL display stoped working because of this so once i get home (im in class right now) im going to try to desodder that **** and get it out and then hve it all ready to go nd then close it upwith somehot glue :-) so yeah hope i dont blow it lol

                            ariite guys shes done! the faceplate is attachd to 18!! feet of cable and the headunit has ether net couplers on the end it works perfectly i just need to monut it into the car the main unit is prolly gonna go in the glove box :-)
