    Hey guys,

    Not sure exactly what interface control options are provided with devices like the Griffin Powermate, but I was thinking of something simple using a continuous rotary control, you know.. like the volume knobs on stereos that spin forever... I think it is called a shuttle control where you can just turn it and turn it forever...

    Anyway, my vision would be to use one of these controls to rotate through buttons in your front end like RR or whatever. So with each clockwise click of the knob, it would select the next button in succession in the front end. It could be combined with an up/down, left/right joystick function built into the knob.

    Example: Let's say you are on your main front end screen which is divided up into "groups". (I will use the screenshots here: http://freeway.sourceforge.net/?ss as an example)

    One group would be your "Home/Music/Video/GPS/Apps" selection buttons on the right, another group would be the "Weather, movies, camera, settings" buttons in the center and another group would be the volume up/down back/forward buttons along the bottom.

    Tilting the knob side to side would jump back and forth between these groups and turning the knob would jump between the buttons in these groups. Pressing down on the knob would "click" on the highlighted button.

    I think this would provide more flexability than having preset functions of different knob directions.

    I just have no idea on how to make or develop the knob integration into a front end for this...

    What do you guys think?

      You would have something to send out keyboard keys that cycles through an array or something. So the knob sends out a fixed "key" depending on if you turn it left or right. Then the program intercepts KeyA and KeyB, and outputs Array[CurrentIndex + 1] % NumberOfIndexes if it receives KeyA or Array[CurrentIndex - 1] % NumberOfIndexes if KeyB is received. Then send out the Key that that array's current element contains. That is intercepted by your frontend, and then it works.
