  • Keyboard hack job

ok so i started with the keyboard shown below... the reason for choosing this one was that it has a scroll wheel on the left hand side... a scroll wheel that is very useful for navigating through my frontend.

However, i dont really wan this massive full size keyboard in my car, so i decided to make it... uhhh... not so full size... i wanted to keep the numpad and the scroll wheel, numpad to use as hotkeys, and the scroll wheel for navigating.

it was a fairly simple matter of pulling the board apart and cutting it up, although, you do have to be careful to leave the necessary bits lol. i joined these with some glue, then sanded that back.

finally i covered the whole thing in black felt, which makes it very comfortable to hold

Did you have to hack the keyboard matrix at all?

no, thank goodness, the scroll wheel runs off a separate pcb, so i was just able to cut off the keyboard part of the matrix.
