  • TouchScreen EPROM "error/failure"

Guy's I need some help with this one.

After I install the touch screen software, do the reboot, and plug in the USB. I can go thrugh the calibration (pressing the X's), but once I'm done I get a "EPROM failure" when the software tries to save the calibration info. ?????

    Thanx,
    Chris

all I know is that EPROM is memory. Maybe a bad memory module? or something? Sounds like a memory problem.

    although that is the obvious.

First off , what make is the touch controler ?

Are you sure its eprom and not eeprom ?

IT could be that the ts cont. is sending back info on the state of the system and the results of any self test , but since it happens AFTER you calibrate it may be that the calibration cannot be stored in the eeprom.

I know some microtouch controlers store the calibration info in a eeprom or flash chip on the connector that plugs into the controler from the touch screen 'glass' , that way the calibration goes with the touch screen and not the controler.

      Don't know if that helps.

My bad it's EEPROM, I typed up the message while at work.

I got the controller from Digital.

Now the question is what could I do to fix it???

You can try two things, either replace the touch overlay or the controller. The bad thing is to figure out wich one it is. Can you post pictures of the connectors of the touch overlay? or even the controller on both sides?

I would say your controller shot the **** man. Try get a hold of another one. I dont think your touch overlay has a eeprom chip.

Ok , it looks like the big chip is the brains of the system , one of the two smaller chips will be the eeprom.

Did this ever work ? if it did , what did you do just before it stoped working ?

If your system is in bits , give me the numbers off the two smaller chips and I will see if I can find any data.

Never had it working, had some problems with connectors that took some time to find. I tried installing it on two diffrent comps same problem (old and new drivers on both) I'll get the numbers of the chips later on tonight

                      Thanx in advance.
