Got one, works awesome, and with a little work I changed it from the external serial connector to the serial motherboard header, extended just the infrared eye to the front of the case, and it works even better...fully inside the box on com2. Best thing is that it is fully supported in media engine, make the buttons do whatever you want.

Oh yea...it is tiny inside. About 1.5-2" squared if i remember correctly. The base is just huge to make it look like it belongs on a pc. I will try to shoot some pics soon! I have this, 802.11, keyboard/mouse reciever and a usb hub all inside my casetronic case.

I know, I know the picture is crappy, but hey what do you expect for a cheap camera phone This is the creative remote reciever rewired for a motherboard header connector and the infrared sensor wire on a 12" piece of wire to reach the front of the case. Again, sorry about the pic, but by the size of the remote you can tell it is very very small!

I use the same remote. Got it for $2 on eBay. Works well enough...IR isn't the best. I have the receiver hidden in the vents above the screen so I can point it at the screen and it works.

This is cool sometimes you need a mouse too but don't want to reach around to find it since most of us have a regular keyboard and mouse also in the car somewhere else.... Could be thought of as alternative for a touch screen. One thing I have found it as low as 30 bucks so something to think about anyway with a car computer its all about customization!!!

                        Yes, buy a mini-IR receiver.
Mine works with any remote control. I find creative remote nice due to its small size. The creative IR receivers I just get rid of.

Know of a cheap small usb 2.0 version of one?

I am a distributor in the US of a such device.
It is USB 1.1, though. There is no need for 2.0 due to the low speed data acquired.

Hmm.. I've tried searching, but am not able to find anything. Probably not looking hard enough.

Does MPXPlay work with the Creative Remote? All I see is Windows Drivers. I'm planning on using WinDos (7.x) and MPXPlay with a 4x20 LCD and I need some sort of basic control. This seems cheap and easy. Otherwise, I was planning on using one of those USB numeric keypads, but I like the idea of a remote. It's not much bigger than my current Sony Xplod remote.

                              Thanks in advance,

                              Kris
