    IRman

I was thinking about his too, you already have the remote and Girder all you need now is the IR receiver, the IRman is one of the most reccomended, I think if you search around some you'll find some reviews. They run about $35 and you can buy them here http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/irman/index.html
Mp3Car has a USB model here http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_...roducts_id=207 if you insist on USB. Hope this helps.

How about the cheap Serial IR (aka LIRC) that can be built for less than 10 bucks.

You could go that route also but working two jobs, a carpc hobby, and a wife I decided to take the easy way out and just buy an IR receiver, I know...I know... -3 pts for me.

I made one from the plans from LIRC. I recall it not being as reliable.

This was years ago but I think the light affected it alot.

                      I bought this:

                      http://iguanaworks.net/ir/

It is a Lirc compatible device, and is pretty stable. I use it with WinLirc and Autohotkey to automate my whole carputer, using a Jensen wireless remote.

                      I love it!
