  • "Super" Monitor - Type of Connector

Does anyone know the type of connector that the "Super" monitor uses as the main attachement point for the video, usb, etc. port? I thought it was a IEEE-1284 Printer Type C Connector (HPCN36) - but it only has 26 pins.

I was hoping to find/make an adaptor to change the direction the port is from from downwards to rear facing (i.e. like a 90 degree elbow connector). Thanks for any help anyone has.

unfortunately no, i have the same monitor, its a pain in the *** with that connector.

1 thing i did do however, was to strip the plastic casing off the connector and just hotglue it in. that gave me a lot of extra space.

      Doesn't sound very "super".

well the screen is absolutely amazing, it just has a design flaw in the way the connector sticks out of the bottom of the screen casing by about an inch.

Sounds like a good idea. What I was hoping to do was find a male to female extension, or connector that fits the port, and the modify it. But for that, need the type of connector it is

No, I'm not doubting that. I'm just saying a "super" connector isn't very super if it is nonstandard and impossible to find. That eliminates around half the reason for a connector in the first place.

i see. you misunderstand. the connector isnt super, the brand of the screen is 'super'. lol.

The connector is actually the same one as used on the xenarcs AND lilliputs - i just dont thing a male to female 90^ extender exists.

Ah. That is pretty super then (on a scale from un-super to superior). I wonder if you can drill a hole in the back of the unit and route the lines out of it. I had to do a similiar thing to get audio into my headunit before I had dedicated amps.

I ended up taking appart my plug and bending it 90deg. It wasn't pretty but it works. You'll lose the locking mechanism though.

well the Xenarc is a DFP connector as it says in the thread i linked to.

and also like i said...if your 'super lcd' brand monitor doesnt have a connector like it then its a different connector!

if you have ever seen a motorola phone connector you will have seen what the old style xeanrc uses too!

and finally, to repeat myself again....not many people buy the super screens so in order to stop alienating 99.99999% of the people on here and thus inproving your chances of getting an idea then post a pic of the connector in question

best pic i could find: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/7-Super-TOUCH-...QQcmdZViewItem

does look like the DFP connector used on the xenarc but without an ed on shot it is impossible to know. only you can answer that. if it doesnt match the one in the attached PDF of that thread i posted then no.
