  • And driver programmers? Help needed

I am looking for some one that might be able to write a girder driver for the 3DConnexion Space traveler. I think it would be the perfect input device for a carputer. 6 axis of movement and 9 programmable buttons. There is an SDK available and if someone is interested I might just buy them a Space traveler of their own if they can write the drivers for it.

Can you give me the SDK links / docs? A quick google for the space traveler SDK didn't turn up anything, and Girder I see has an API but their "developer" page doesn't seem to like me as it refuses to show anything but the EULA.

Ugh. Not only do they want you to register, it's an installer. At least it doesn't look like it's installing anything besides files.

Anyway, it's not the prettiest API but it looks straightforward enough. Still can't seem to get the Girder API, have you had any luck with that? Assuming Girder doesn't want you to do anything too evil to interface with it, I should be able to write the glue code for you no problem.

Edit: Found some code on the Girder forums. Looks like they use Lua to pass commands around, plus a set of user supplied functions.

Not a big deal, I'll send them an email. I should be able to work it out from the code sample I found anyway. If you're cool with me, get me a space traveler to work with and I'll whip up some code for you. PM with details.

DAMN - let's get that to work folks

I'm still optimizing my Carputer and struggeling with the input device. You know I'm happy with the touchscreen, but most of the time having something with buttons is more userfriendly than anything else.

I tried mousewheel etc. and I always endup with an I-Drive Clone. To be honest - not that bad as BMW has done but with a knob for left, right, up, down and press is a better way to enter your destination adress while you doing 200 km/h on a motorway.

As it is easy for me to throw some Spacetravelers over, let's see, if someone could help !

Don't wanna make this a contest, but the developer that provides that to me, could keep that Spacetraveler or let's see, if I could arrange a good notebook-deal while I'm working for the world largest PC manufactorer

                Thanks in advance !
