  • 5-Wire Resistive Touch Panel?

I am looking for max size of 165 x 105mm with viewable size not smaller then 154 x 90mm. Would anyone have anything in mind for me? 5-wire is the best, correct?

sounds like the stock 7" xenarc touch panel to me.

Xenarc Direct sell them. Dont forget to get a 5-wire controller

            1 wire!

            no no seriously it is!

ok i will be serious. Yes there is an extra wire and the touch panels are generally considered to have a longer 'touch life' as in number of presses. they go from some few hundred thousand to a million or something. TBH you will never wear out a decent 4 wire panel in your life of your carPC. The benefit is for commercial and public use where panels will get abused and use all day. If you wear out a decent 4 wire you are not spending enough time with your eyes on the road and generally most of us will be a little bit more careful with our screens than joe public on some ticket buying kiosk at the cinema.

They are however said to be a little be clearer but tbh the glare is more of an issue with resistive than the light transmission.

oh and luckily for you i have a xenarc panel on my desk. it is the old 4 wire but i can confirm the viewable area is just over 90mm high and between 150-155mm wide. so, as I said...get a xenarc one!

the total panel area is 170x106 but there is obviosuly a border. if you check the specs of the xenarc viewable area then i am pretty sure it is quoted as about 155x90 if i remember rightly.

oh and if it is 16:9 you need then you could for a slightly bigger 4 wire 8" 16:9 touch panel from one of the linitx screens.

Question for you, the old 4 wire, and new 5 wire tsv's the only thing different is the touch controller? if i have a 5 wire tsv, would I be able to swap to a 4 wire controller?

should be the same pinout to the controller yes. so yes you should be able to just put in a 5 wire panel and controller.

ps did your mother ever teach you to use your P's and Q's?

i've already told you where to look. why don't you go out and make some enquiries because no-one is going to go do them for you. Custom sized panels are not something people have lying around. I have already measured a xeanarc one for you and shown that it is suitable for you min dimensions and you dont even have the manners to say please and thank you!

                            eh?

                            1. i told you the Xenarc was 155x90 above

                            2. you said the min area you needed was 154x90 which means that is just okay.

                            3. who said anything about cutting anything? you cant cut your touch panel and why would you want to?

i have xenarc, and its 170x105. it wont fit into the housing. the Viewable area will work, but the overal size wont.
