  • laptop wont keep vid settings / Non dock compatable to use with doc??

Hey this is a noob question and feel dumb for asking but my laptop wont keep the double monitor or even vga only setting when i reboot. so everything i start the laptop i have to hit the montor switch button to have ti switch vid settings. is there a way to fix this issue and have it always show on the vga? i am running an older omnibook xe3. If there is a program that i can use to control vid settings easier that woudl be greatly appreciated.

2nd issue. I bought a doc station that is fro the omnibook xe3 and didnt get the laptop (handmedown) till a few days ago. come to find out that laptop wasnt instaled with the docking port. Anyway to hook the laptop to the dock??? maybe a serial adaptor??? Biggest reason for port was we already wired the new switch up. There are USB univeral docks but cant be used for power up down. I am about to go look for the WOusb and such. its in the BIOS correct? Thanks for all your help.

Ok i got the video issue worked out. tHere was an option in bios for auto vid select or both so did both. Now issue is the docking station. That and there doesnt seem to be a WOusb for hibernation or turn on in my bios or device manager. just WOusb for standby. Any help is welcomed thanks allot everyone.

      1. Get a different docking station or a different laptop.

      2. Can't wake up the laptop via USB. Need to solder wires to power button.

the docking staton is made for lat laptop its jsut eh laptop doenst have the port on the bottom (wasnt added i guess as an option) so was jsut seeig if there was a adapter cable to hook them in or dock to serial something along those lines. If not i'll take my relay that i hooked to the dock switch and put it on the laptop. Friggn omnibook with its slidder switch had ot use a relay so i coudl use the push button

The docking station port isn't an option on laptops. The docking station is. If the laptop doesn't have a docking port on it, it wasn't designed on it.

Either a laptop has a dock port on it or it doesn't, there's no way to get one added or have it as an option.
