I am looking for a USB tv tuner for the laptop I am using in my car and came across this:

    http://www.kworldcomputer.com/produc...vr-tv2800u.htm

This is the diagram of how it is connected to various components:

    My question is:

    1) Will I be able to view the free (2 to 13 or whatever they are) channels by just hooking the device to my USB port and connecting my sound card to this units audio port?

I am also curious to know what other USB solutions people are using. I searched and have seen that people have had bad signals/bad quality pics so I am wondering if this is worth the investment or not... or should i just stick to divx rips of the simpsons and family guy... l0l

The quality will be VERY bad but it has more to do with the antenna and the fact that your car will be moving. I got a USB tv tuner in mine because i got it for pretty cheap ($20). I hardly use it at all.

I am looking at this USB tuner on craigslist

      http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/sys/176481417.html

for $68, i thought it may be worth it... i can def. mount the antenna like on a rear window and would like to just see how the quality of the pic is... but i am wondering if anyone on here has a usb tuner and is having GOOD or awesome quality... i want to know which is a really good usb tv tuner... some other posts on this site point me to the happauge tuner...

good or awsome quality will never happen in a car unless you want to stop the car erect a pole with a directional antena on it and turn it to the strongest signal. Your more likley to be in the region of this totaly sucks and I want my 68 bucks back to this sucks bad and I wish I had blown my money on something else.

yeah... i tried even high end alpine tv tuners with high end antennas... forget it in a moving car... sitting still you "might" be able to find a spot that it's watchable... mobile it's useless.. even the latest greatest mobile satillite's leave a lot to be desired... it's more annoying to try & watch most of the times than it's worth... I'd say don't bother...

any my always complains that she cant watch any TV in my car... I told her to quit yappin and get one of these:

for the last time, the difference in quality of a $200 tuner and my cheapo $20 one is pretty much zero. The "bottle neck" is at the quality of the signal. But hey, if you got $68 to blow, go ahead.
