  • I need some major help asap pleeeeassseee

So i bought an indash motorized VGA touchscreen and im trying to install it. There are four wires. Yellow, black, green, and red. However this is how they describe installation...
    In the Picture it says::
    Yellow to + battery terminal
    Black to - battery terminal
    Green line to ground
    Red line to lighting swtich

In words they tell you ::
Black line is connected with GND
Red line is connected with Control switch for lighting
Green line is connect with control for backing or GND
Yellow line is connect with + battery

sooo........this is what I did. instead of running wires out to the battery and such....

Yellow wire to yellow wire on radio harness(12v supply terminal)
Red wire to orange/white wire on radio harness(lighting switch terminal)

What do I do with the green and black wire i've tried a million differnt things..
black to neg battery green grounded and vice versa
black grounded and green loose and vice versa
    black and green grounded

but no matter what i do the clock on the thing works but thats it, it wont turn on and the screen wont flip out...any ideas?

For testing purposes I would run a power wire from the battery and connect both black and green to battery. Then I would test that the wire you are using for switched power really is switched. If you get that working then you can switch one wired at a time to something closer to the monitor and see if it still works.

Did you check the fuse? Do you have a model name and number or a pdf of the manual?

Presumably the Red line causes a diming of the backlight when your headlights are on.
More likely it just dims the other lights on the monitor though (not the backlight of the LCD).

Black is your real ground. I think the green wire acts as a source switcher. Swithcing to composite when it is high. Hence, tie it to grn when you are not using that function.

Baking? You can cook things with this :s I think the guy who wrote that was baked

Maybe the green wire is the turn-on wire ( the IGNition wire ( red usually )

Could be. Or it could come on with a VGA signal.
If it were mine I would try it though. I doubt pushing the green hot would blow anything.

whoever wrote it up is retarded but in my manual it says control for backing

so i should tie green and black together and ground it?

Its not nessasary. It can float and not cause problems.
