  • whats VGA TFT screens are there?

ok I didnt want to get burned by somebody saying search the forums so I didnt post and searched and searched some more and some more and read for HOURS and HOURS and still have found nothing to help me so im posting anyway

The kind of monitor that I want is a VGA TFT Touchscreen that displays at least 800x600 although I really want 1024x768....

I checked the measurements of the center console in my car I have 8 to 9 inches width depending on how tall the monitor is the bottom of my console is 9 inches and the top is 9 inches....there is 9 inches in height.

Thanks so much whoever can help I am sooo anxious to start looking into viable solutions for a display in my car

EDIT: If a screen conects to through the serial port then that means its going to look like crap from what I have read... but i see some serial monitors that sell for over $500. The reason I want a VGA TFT is because those are the only ones that can support atleast 800x600

How much are you willing to pay? Im looking at this kit myself. It fits your specs pretty much perfectly. It isnt the brightest thing in the world though, only 100 nits

I have been just cruising round ebay and found this screen:

        http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1384144261

how hard for me would it be to make this screen into a touch screen? what do I need to do it?

someobody please help me as soon as possible.... I need to know before the auction ends...

also I have the Via mini ITX (533mhz) board that has Tv out option... that will work with this display right?

What's wrong with the Xenarc? It's fairly priced and readily available.

Trust me, you don't want 1024x768 on a tiny screen like that. The higher the resolution, the harder it is to read text. Stick with 640x480.

I was reading posts and somebody said it kept resetting on them and they had to set the monitor every time they started the carputer... it souded like I wouldnt be pleased with it..... plus you need that stretch software to work right for you so it will display in 800x480

I dunno if there was a satisfaction money back guarantee I would try it cause i might not have those problems but if i did i would definately not be happy

I had this LCD kit and it blows. If it is just sunny outside, nevermind direct sunlight on the LCD, you cannot see anything; it is not bright enough for a car.

I ended up dropping $600.00 on a 500nit kit from Apollo and it is plenty bright. The pics on my page show the kit from Apollo.

Well I was really considering buying something from them. Is it easy to order from them? Or do you have to play off as a legitimate buisness? Because it seems they dont sell direct to customers, just to buisnesses.

Yea dude, you have to play it off. Do the entire transaction over e-mail, that will make it easier. When they ask for company info, just tell them you will pay COD for the sample and if everything goes ok then your company will set up an account.
