  • 93 Lincoln, Project Getting Started

    Hi Everyone,

I recently got my hands on a beautiful 1993 Lincoln Town Car, this car is 100% flawless and looks like it just left the showroom, there's nothing more to say about it's condition. I plan on installing a new audio system as well as a decent pc, However I am stumped when it comes to LCD placement. I am moderately experienced when it comes to ripping cars apart and putting them back together, but as for modding a dash to install a monitor, i've never tried. Does anyone know of any previous Lincoln installs that they could link some images of? I'm just trying to get some ideas. I suppose that an in-dash lcd could be an option, however I can't really justify a $500 in-dash lcd when you can get a 10" touch for less than $200.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

          93TC.

I just finished an install in a 2001 Lincoln LS, including custom molding of a 7" screen into a single-din dash kit. If you could post some pictures of the radio and what you have to work with I will see if it was at all similar.

I'll post some pics when I get home, however the dash on the TC completely changed in both 1995 and 1998, so I doubt you'll be able to help me much, However I greatly appreciate your response.

I had a '91 Continental when I first installed my carputer. I never finished my monitor install the way I wanted to and I've since totalled it, but the one big advantage of these cars is the bench seating in the front. More specifically, the footspace of the front-center passenger. My idea was to install a 10-15" LCD vertically so the top end met with the dash and the bottom edge sat on the carpet closer to the seat. The downsides are that you have to look and reach further down to operate it, and you have to figure out your own way of making it look clean/hiding wires. But with such little dash space to work with this seemed like a good alternative. The hump on the floor in the center of the car brings it high enough to operate without having to duck down to press the screen.

How is the install coming along? I have the exact same car and am pretty far along the install process. I should have pictures up by tonight.
