  • Xenarc component RGB input?

I just received my 700YV but cannot seem to get the VGA input working with an RGB signal. I am using a component RGB cable from a playstation 2 through a componentRGB-to-VGA(db15) adapter cable, but the video screen keeps going to Auto off as if it does not detect a signal when on VGA source. Using the yellow composite signal works, but i would like to retain the widescreen format and quality that the component cables offer.
Does the 700YV support a component RGB input via the VGA connector or is there another signal associated only with VGA computer resolutions that are necessary for the monitor to detect it? Thanks for your help.

Monitors have to be capable of SOG (Sync On Green) in order for it to run off a component to vga adapter.

And unfortunately most Lcd monitors do not support this.

Thanks for the reply, that's what i was looking for. Guess I will stick with composite for the ps2 and save the vga connector for a PC down the road.

FYI, here is the response I got back from Xenarcdirect (specifically regarding the 700YV).

We have not tested a RGB – VGA adapter for these monitors. Most likely, the adapter is not converting the signal to something the monitor can recognize. The monitor can recognize resolutions from 640x480 – 1024x768, @ 60-85 Hz. Please make sure the adapter is converting the VGA output to within these specs, or if there is no converter, that the RGB signal is within these specs.
