  • Long VGA cable

Ok I have a Xenarc 700TS, it will be in my dash while my computer will be in the trunk. Is there a problem with running a usb and vga cable that far to hook them up? Along with that I read the FAQ on powering your monitor but the only simple way I saw was just run it through a molex on the power supply if im correct.

I have a 5 meter VGA cable and an ACTIVE 5 meter USB cable.
Sometimes I see a bit of noise on my screen but I think it's just the old computer's fault. The USB works great without problems.

Probably because there isn't any "trouble"

Not sure how long my cable is, probably would be 5m, don't have any issues with it. Why would they make cables that long if they knew they were useless?

          Same with USB, no issues.

Just make sure the USB cable you get is "active" and that the VGA cable is shielded

same here, i've got a shielded 5m vga from ebay and 3 active 5m usb leads from amazon all working fine.

Do get the occassion tiny amount of noise but nothing that concerns me.

                12 wire security shielded cable

I use a 12 wire shielded multi strand security cable and I run a Hami 8" Touchscreen (USB needed) the monitor power and the VGA through the one cable with no problem.

To allow for enough conductors I run the negative for the USB and monitor power via the shield. The Hami monitor needs 8 wires to work correctly but I did connect the shields and VGA earths via it own conductor, mainly because I had one spare wire I am sure it would have worked using the shield as they are all connected together anyway.
