  • Using a non-carpc toucscreen

I was wondering if it was possible to rig another touchscreen lcd monitor to work with a computer. You could use regular AV cables to hook up the video, but how could you get the touchscreen to work?
    A monitor like this

    Any help is appreciated!

As long as it has a video input you should be okay. You must have video in to go from the pc to the monitor. Most car stereos with touchscreens do not have video in and I am not aware of any companies such as sony, pioneer, kenwood, etc. that make one. Xenarc and Lilliput are generally your best options (at least that I know of). But you could use a touchscreen that is meant for indoor use (http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...creen-Monitors). You would just have to figure out how and where to mount it as well as deciding on how to power it (such as an ac-dc inverter/adapter). Good luck.

You open up the headunit, reverse-engineer the touchscreen to work on a PC and make any necessary circuits and write drivers if necessary.
And you lose touch-control of the headunit in the process.

The short answer for most of us is "You don't."
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
      How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I was thinking some time ago. That it could be possible to use a unit that has 800x480pixels and a connector for one of those gps-boxes. Those boxes are controller by the touchscreen too so there must be a touchscreen-out on those units. My only problem was converting the dvd player to one with usb.
